Free Trap-Neuter-Return Program for 93306

Stray cats in the 93306  zip code area will be able to be trapped, altered and released thanks to an upcoming program. PetSmart charities, working with the KC Animal Control, will soon fund a desperately needed program that includes the use of traps, volunteers and free altering. If you live in the 93306 area and care about the plight of the many stray cats, call 868-0328 or email happykerncats@aol.com for more information.   Here is a link to the flyer.  TNR Flyer

Rescued from Tree

3 Kittens from tree These three kittens are awaiting the arrival of their litter mate who was still stuck at the top of a tree in the park.... This morning (5/28) the last little kitten was rescued!  They are 5 weeks and will be available for adoption mid June.

Little Huey

Little Huey photo

This pitiful little kitten was found lodged in a car wheel.  He was covered in oil, fleas and ringworm.  It is hard to believe that he is one of the lucky survivors.  Little Huey, named after his rescuer, is in foster care and we will keep you posted on his recovery.

Doxie found a home

Doxie Dog The little 10 year old abandoned Doxie found a loving home thanks to a very caring and patient animal lover.

It seems that abandoned animals are everywhere in this community. Rescuers must learn to concentrate on the lives saved and focus on the successes. This strategy keeps us all going, saving one life at a time.....

Justice4Paws Demonstration for Lacey

Justice4Paws, a local group of animal welfare advocates with a national and international following, will hold a peaceful demonstration on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at 8:00 a.m. in front of the Superior Court building at 1415 Truxtun Avenue, southeast corner of Chester Avenue. Justice4Paws hopes that Robert Gonzales will receive the maximum and appropriate sentence at his hearing that morning.  This individual, by pleading no contest to animal cruelty charges, has not denied the act of throwing bleach in Lacey's eyes, beating her with a golf club, tying her to a tree with her mouth duct taped shut and leaving her until she was found three days later.  Lacey is recovering from these heinous acts, but her psyche has been scarred for the rest of her life.  We cannot allow her tomenter to get away with only a slap on the wrist.

Participants are asked to show their support of Lacey with peaceful signs, such as Justice 4 Lacey or Maximum Sentence.  Please join Justice4Paws on May 18 at 8:00 a.m at the Bakersfield courthouse.

For further information, please contact Karen Marousek at 589-6845.  Justice4Paws thanks you for your support.
