SUMP UPDATE: Great news! We caught two more kittens last night and one of the momma cats this morning. They are all getting flea baths and medical care immediately. Thank you all for the donations, support, and shares. Please continue to spread the word to help the sump kitties, or donate a few bucks to the cause.
Sump
EMERGENCY RESCUES: We have taken in 7 kittens and 2 adult cats from one of the most dreadful "dumping" grounds in town. This disgusting place spreads disease, causes life altering injuries, and leaves helpless cats victim to shootings. Yes, believe it or not, cats have been shot at this location. We have worked hard through rescue efforts to make sure NO cats or kittens live here, and for a long while, it was cat free. Recently, someone started dumping cats and kittens here again. The 9 kitties were already infested with fleas, had eye infections, and foxtails. There are eight more kittens that we are desperately working to rescue, but they are very frightened. We need donations to help vet bills, and we need help finding peaceful forever homes for these babies.
These cats and kittens have had a rough time, and are a little more timid than some of our other cats. They will need to be placed in a home that is peaceful with no dogs. They need an owner who will give lots of TLC and be patient while they recover.
Guilty
One of our adopters submitted a photo of their Cat People cat Aspen caught at the scene of the crime. We thought this was pretty funny. Was it Aspen? The cat who is running out of the photo? Or was it the puppy whose legs you can see in the reflection? Hmm..
Sister, Sister
We have two beautiful sisters looking for homes! Pepper and Kally were abandoned at a park with their mom when they were only 4 weeks old. Now, they are 4 months old and are incredibly sweet and love lots of attention. Their foster mom says that they have been such a joy to have in her home! We are hoping these pretty ladies find forever families this weekend at Petco!

Itty-Bitty Kitty Committee
The Itty-Bitty Kitty Committee officially declares that it is FRIDAY. That means the work week is almost over and that another kickback, easy summer weekend is upon us. The Itty-Bitty Kitty Committee also has some impressive numbers to share with us. The Cat People fixed a cat a day in May through the Spay Today program. According to The Feral Cat Project, those 31 fixed cats prevented 3,100 cats from being born in 7 years. Hurray! The program is completely funded by private donations, and this does NOT include all of our other spaying/neutering efforts. Isn't it amazing what a community can do when it works together? Please help us continue to fix community cats and provide free and low cost vouchers to Kern County residents. Every penny counts!
Feta is excited for the weekend.
Feta is patiently waiting to be adopted.
Feta cannot wait for his chance at a forever home this weekend at adoption hours. He wants the weekend to hurry up and get here! He would also like for you to stop by and say hello. We will be at Petco on Saturday from 10-3pm. Hope to see you there!
