Build-A-Bear Workshop Bear Hugs Foundation

The Cat People’s SPAY TODAY! Program has gotten a big shot in the arm from the Build-A-Bear Workshop Bear Hugs Foundation.  The BABW Bear Hugs Foundation believes in helping domestic pets by providing, financial support through their grant program for animal welfare, pet rescue, rehabilitation, and therapeutic pet programs. The grants are to be used to prevent pet overpopulation, provide food and medical expenses for animals, and other needs required by pets.

The grants are funded through the sale of their Bearemy's Kennel Pals®. One dollar from the sale of each plush animal in this line is donated through the Build-A-Bear Workshop Bear Hugs Foundation to qualified non-profit(c)(3) organizations working with or on behalf of domestic pets throughout the United States and Canada.

The Cat People organization is extremely grateful to the Foundation for this assistance.  Our SPAY TODAY! Program is more than 20 years old, and each month receives many more requests than we can grant.  Receiving this infusion of funds will mean that we can immediately provide assistance to financially strapped pet owners wishing to alter their cat.  People in need of assistance getting their cat altered can call us at (661) 327-4706, and we will provide assistance while funding from this program lasts.

Tigger & Sammie

We are Tigger and Sammie. We are brothers about 15 months old. Last year we were adopted together as kittens. Our owner cannot care for us any more. We are devastated we have lost our home and our best friend. We would love to stay together. We might need a little time to adjust but we think you will like us.  Most of the time, we like to just lay around and relax. A nice quiet environment would be great for us. We have not been around dogs or other cats. If you would like just two cats that get along we would be perfect. Please call The Cat People.

Marie Callender & Bakersfield Women's Club

Dine at Marie Callender's on California Avenue this month and help out The Cat People at the same time!  During March, Marie Callendar's is working with the Bakersfield Women's Club to raise money for the club's Animal Fund.  This fund benefits animal rescue groups in our community, including The Cat People.  By presenting a special flyer to your server when you dine at Marie Callendar's, 25% of your check will be donated to the Animal Fund.  These flyers are good every day from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m. through March 31st at the restaurant's California location only.  You can pick up flyers during The Cat People's adoption hours at Petco on Rosedale Hwy. from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays.  Flyers are also available at the Gift Shop at 1930 18th St. from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.
